Our Vows

Mine:

You swept into my life when I least expected you, and ended up being exactly what I needed most.
To promise you fidelity and love is the easiest promise I’ve ever had to make. You are my best friend. You are the most generous, loving, calming person I know and it is my blessing that I should get to ride through this life with you by my side.
To vow to be with you in sickness and in health is easy. I’ve endured 6 years of you post-consuming chicken or beans and I haven’t run screaming yet.
I promise to love you, cherish you, support you, and talk your ear off incessantly for the rest of our lives.

His:

Our life together began the very moment we met.
Despite the time it took to reach this point, I cannot imagine a more perfect setting, nor a more perfect fit standing before me.
You, and our continuing journey, are the shining light in my life and I will strive to be a light in yours.

Whew. We Did It!

Wow. With a day plus between us and the wedding we've had a chance to let everything settle and soak in, and "Wow" is about all I can say.

We are so unbelievably thrilled at how smoothly the entire day progressed, and so grateful for how wonderful the event was. Hours and days of preparation, planning, diligence, organization and not a little sleep deprivation culminated in truly memorable and delightful day surrounded by our friends and family that would be nearly impossible to duplicate or surpass.

Jacqueline and I would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts, for without your support, love, help, and friendship, none of it would have been possible. Thank you.

Here's to a life spent together,
-Ian & Jacqueline

Camping

Pack your flannel shirts and hotdog skewers cause we're goin' camping!

Upon the completion of the wedding ceremony, 4:00 or 5:00ish, the celebration will continue in the Camp Ground. Just a short drive (or moderate hike) around the perimeter of the park and you'll arrive in the area we've reserved for our revelry.

The entire Group Camp Ground is at our disposal, so feel free to plop your tent, hammock, or bivouac anywhere that strikes your fancy. Keep in mind that we'll be using a couple of the designated fire pits so you may want to place your sleeping arrangements a decent distance from the merrymaking.

Always with conservation in mind, we've made arrangements with the caterers to pack up whatever leftovers remain from the ceremony so that they can be enjoyed again later that evening over the open fires. However, as we are unable to predict exactly how much food will be leftover, you may want to subsidize our offerings with your favorite camp fire vitals. There are several grocery stores to visit in Dansville-proper for the food stuffs, and since the Bridal Parties won't be arriving immediately in the Camp Ground there is plenty of time zip into town.

What we will be providing, and most importantly some might argue, is the libations. The illustrious and prolific Kerlin Brothers have brewed a mighty beer specifically for the camping festivities (as well as the three for the reception), and the generous and gracious John and Chris Lalande have transported a wonderful smattering of New Glarus bottled beer for our enjoyment. In addition, there should be healthy doses of wine remaining from the ceremony and a few liquors from the rehearsal dinner.

Hey, what should we wear?

We're getting this question a lot, so I figured it was probably time for an update.

This is an outdoor wedding at a State Park, you do not need to dress fancy for this event.
Dress comfy, dress casual.
Maybe don't wear jeans?

(I was once bartending an outdoor wedding at Bayshore and this one guy was wearing jeans and some sweatshirt that was the bloody, wild-eyed face of a football player coming straight out of his belly.  The face even had pieces of grass stuck in the teeth of the drawing's grimace. Please don't be that guy. )

Also, this is what the stairs look like down to the wedding site:
Before that staircase, there's maybe a 2 minute walk from the parking lot. The ladies of the bunch should keep this in mind in terms of footwear.

I think that's it?
Give us a holler if you have any more questions.

Update: Travel Directions

Hello Wedding Attendees (Brooklyn people specifically),

I have an update to the travel route from Brooklyn to the Park. We came to the conclusion that all travel through Pennsylvania on Pensylvania Highways should be avoided at all costs, lest our traveler be indefinitely delayed in the highway construction capital of the World. No offense to any of you Pennsylvanians out there.

So here are two new links:
NYC to the Park

NYC to Dansville proper

That's all for now. Thanks, and happy traveling.

It's Three Days Away - Do You Know Where Your RSVP Is?

Greetings all,

I wanted to extend a friendly reminder to all our invitees that the RSVP-by date (8/8) is approaching and so that none of you get stuck without a meal or a seat to get those suckers in the mail. Our caterer has wonderful things in store but they need to know you'll be there!

Thanks, see you all soon.

A map of the Park

Greetings all.

I threw together this map so we can all get familiar with the layout and so on the day off people are wandering around hopelessly.

In addition to this we will have a few signs placed in the park lending you direction, like "This Way Please" and "Stay Out of the Creek."

Enjoy. And again, any questions, feel free to comment.

Your RSVP is your Placeholder for the Reception

We mentioned the RSVP date a lot on these invites, and there is an alternate reason other than the obligatory "Hey, we really need to know, because it affects the table and food count."

In the ongoing spirit of sustainability and conservation, we are limiting our paper usage by using these RSVP cards as your placeholders for seating during the reception.
After the reception, if you want to keep your RSVP/Placeholder card for ever-and-ever because you love it so much, thats perfectly fine. We put a lot of work into them.
Any that remain will be used for kindling during the camp out.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. :-)

 So, mail it back, folks!

Hi There!

Boy Howdy! We have a wedding coming up in less than two months!!

In the coming weeks, we will use this site for general info regarding the wedding.  If you have a question, leave a comment and we'll answer it so that everyone else can be in the know.

The basic info:

September 17th at Stony Brook State Park we'll be getting married. :-)  We planned a lunchtime ceremony, so that the reception could be outdoors and involve the things we love in life: nature, State Parks, family/friends, great food, bocce ball, croquet, and beer.
Ah, yes, the beer. The Kerlin Brothers are brewing beer especially for our wedding; and, I promise you, everything they make is amazing.
Afterwards, everyone is invited to camp out with us in the group campgrounds. There'll be campfires, music and even more Kerlin Brothers beer.

54 days to go, we'll see you soon!
